August Inspiration

Thursday, 28 August 2014

all pictures are from my tumblr

Since I've arrived in Luxembourg Monday night, I've mainly been busy catching up with friends, so blogging wasn't exactly a priority at the moment. Additionally, my camera remote died, so I had to get new batteries and now that I've finally got new ones, I can hopefully take some outfit pictures soon. Until then, I thought it'd be time for a small inspiration post again!

Instagram Diary

Saturday, 23 August 2014

left: after 5 years, I finally got to go to Disneyland again, which really is the happiest place on earth in my opinion and of course I couldn't not post a picture of it on Instagram, right? right: random Paris architecture snapshot - one of my favourite things to do in Paris, (in London as well, actually) is to walk around the city until my neck is aching from gazing up all the fantastic buildings

left: naturally, I couldn't leave Paris without having posted an Eiffel Tower picture. Thank god I wasn't one of the thousands of people trying to get on the tower though! right: yesterday night's outfit
left: I'm not the biggest beer fan, but what I do like to drink every once in a while - beer wise - is Desperados. And how fancy does this bottle look? right: what do you do when you're sitting in a car by yourself? Take selfies, of course!
left: even though I didn't like the flat we stayed at the past week as much, I really liked this little spot in my room, where I put my bags, nailpolishes, etc. right: beach snapshot on a random beach here in Brittany; notice how I'm wearing jeans and not a bikini? Typical weather here in August, haha!

Behind the scenes / Bloopers

Thursday, 21 August 2014

Whenever I take outfit pictures, (especially when my brother takes them for me) there's always at least one funny/weird picture between the pictures that I edit and post on this blog. I had been thinking about making a post featuring these 'behind the scenes' pictures for a while now but wanted to wait until I've got a handful to make a proper post out of it. Now that I've got a couple of pictures saved in my folder, (yes, I created a folder just for this purpose, haha) I can finally publish the post. How about you other fashion/personal style bloggers out there - is it just me who always ends up with goofy outfit pictures? Do let me know if you liked this post, as I'm certain that I can make these every once in a while!

August Wishlist

August Wishlist
Basic t-shirts Over the last couple of weeks, I have been on the look out for the perfect slouchy, comfortable t.shirt to wear with... well, anything! I was mainly looking for t-shirts with v-necks because they create such a nice neckline and make dainty necklaces stick out more. My personal must-have-colours when it comes to staple pieces like this are black, grey (especially light grey) and white, but I've also seen a couple of other light colours that spoke to me a lot, like light blue or beige.

Flannels Ever since I bought a flannel in the River Island sales in Rotterdam a little while ago, I've been looking everywhere to find more of them. I love how they create such a laid back, 'oh I just got out of bed and threw this on'-look and how incredibly comfortable they are. I am however pretty picky when it comes to the colours of flannels, so I haven't found any others yet, but I'm not giving up quite yet!

Button down shirt with 'hidden' buttons This particular kind of shirt probably has a name but I have no clue what that name would be whatsoever, so hopefully the shirt I put in the collage will enlighten you about what I mean, haha! I saw a very similar shirt to the one you can see above in COS in Paris a couple of days ago (I just realised that the one in the collage is from COS as well!) and I fell in love with it. That particular shirt was also very powdery blue but much longer, so it could probably easily be worn as a shirt dress. However, what I particularly liked about it, was the piece of fabric that covered the buttons - I feel like it gives the shirt a very clean look. If only the shirt in COS would've been half as expensive... *sigh*

A duster coat I've only started seeing duster coats on other bloggers quite recently, but I absolutely fell in love in their classic, but at the same time relaxed look. Next to a trench coat, a duster coat - no colour preference for now - is on my wishlist for when the temperatures are dropping but you can still afford to keep the coats hanging in your wardrobe.

Black ripped jeans This is another staple piece, but I haven't ever really owned a pair of black, ripped jeans. I can already feel how my taste is evolving to like more autumn-y clothes and a pair of ripped, black jeans are more than perfect for autumn! Again, these are absolute staple pieces and can probably be combined with half my wardrobe so, naturally, I need them.

Nike Roshe sneakers For some weird reason, I have lately been drawn to this particular style from Nike, even though I found them quite ugly at the beginning. (or is this just another typical "oh those shoes are so ugly - I love them" situation?) As I've got some money leftover from summer, (who would've thought that?!) I'm hoping to invest into a pair before I get the chance to spend my money on other things. I'm not completely sure about the colour(s) I want them to be, but probably something with blue... I definitely need to do some more research, ha!

Black backpack with gold details Since I got my first 'fashionable' (as in not for school, haha) backpack a couple of months ago and wore it a lot during different trips this summer, I've been playing with the idea of investing in another backpack that might cost a little more than my £10 one from Primark did. I'd like to keep it simple, so ideally I'd like to find a black backpack with golden details like zippers or tassels, to make it look a little bit more exciting but still versatile.

jeans: zara top: new look leather jacket: topshop shoes: nike necklace: h&m bag: choies sunglasses: /

While getting dressed this morning, I decided that I needed to change something about my ripped jeans and spontaneously cut off a part of the legs. Even though it's not a major change, I feel like the un-clean cut adds to the already ripped look of the jeans and I like the way they look on me much better - I'm already thinking about the next pair of jeans to cut off, haha! I kept the rest of my outfit simple and pretty unspectacular with my sneakers, a black top, my good old leather jacket and holographic bag.
Even though this isn't a particularly exciting outfit, I still wanted to share it, since I feel like I haven't shared any more simple, everyday looks on here in a while. I've especially been loving my sneaks more and more lately so I've been toying with the idea of getting myself another pair, but maybe I'll do a separate post on that! Enough with the rambling now, I'll be back tomorrow. Have a nice rest of your Monday x

Music Favourites

Sunday, 17 August 2014

Even though I stayed in Paris for two days, (well, one out of these two days was spent in Disneyland, he he he) I barely ever took my camera with me and didn't take any outfit pictures. However, I arrived in Brittany with my family yesterday and luckily, there's free wifi in out flat! This means that I'll try to update as often as possible the following week. As I don't have many new pictures to share, I thought I'd share some of my favourite tunes now - maybe some of you are travelling somewhere soon as well, and if you're like me, updating your music list is one of the top priorities before leaving on a holiday! Do leave any suggestions for good songs/albums x

Back from Mallorca

Tuesday, 12 August 2014

After a week of sunbathing, swimming, complaining about the heat, eating my weight in paella and tapas and drinking more mojitos than ever, I came back from a wonderful week in Mallorca yesterday. I ended up not taking my camera with me - ever - as it was simply too hot to worry about a heavy camera and I spent pretty much every day at another beach. I did, however, take tons of pictures with my phone, so I decided to share some snaps with you.
I'm leaving to Paris/Disneyland/Brittany tomorrow, but I should (hopefully) be having wifi there, so I'll try to blog every now and then. Until then, enjoy the rest of your Tuesday! x

skort: h&m flannel: river island backpack: primark choker: asos boots: new look sunglasses: /

I wore this outfit on our third day in Rotterdam but I was either dying because of the heat or too busy being a good tourist to take outfit pictures. So I fetched my brother after I came back to Luxembourg and recreated the outfit. I finally got to make use of my primark backpack which I bought back in May in the UK - I honestly forgot how comfortable and practical backpacks are! Looking at these pictures, I might have looked a bit like I was lost in Rotterdam, since I looked more like I was going to a festival but I really do like this outfit, so what are you gonna do, eh?

Outfit with a view

Tuesday, 5 August 2014

dress, backpack: primark leather jacket: topshop shoes: nike sunglasses: /

On out first day in Rotterdam, I immediately had to change from jeans to a dress because of the heat, so I opted for an all-black combination with my trainers. I love the simplicity of this outfit and how it's almost entirely black but consists of different materials! And, let's be honest - how can I not take outfit pictures on our balcony, looking down on Rotterdam?

 Pastel skirt - Bershka
Striped top: Monki / Black top: New Look
 Skirt: New Look
 River Island
 New Look
 Cropped sweater: Monki
Coat: ZARA

I was pretty surprised by the many different shops that are in Rotterdam - I have to say that it came very close to UK shopping standards, haha! I ended up buying quite a few things, including some pieces that are probably not the most practical to wear in August, but I got a couple of things on sale and who am I to say no to beautiful sale finds? Hopefully, I'll be able to show you at least some of the items in outfit posts soon!
